Moose sighting….first of the year….Rt 4a

Hey fellow moose-watchers……the first moose sighting of 2009 by MooseMan was friday may 15 at shortly after 5am on route 4a in Springfield,NH……..It was cool, the young yearling female moose was on roadside and had already decided to retreat to the woods when i pulled up.  I quietly got out of the car, made sure i did not CLOSE MY CAR DOOR……and then as she turned and headed for the woods…..MooseMan let out a “Bull grunt”, that stopped her in her tracks……Nest was a “Cow call” which she would recognize pretty well (after spending a year with her Mom)….this totally interested her…the moose turned and started slowly walking right to me….She approached to 20 feet, and then stopped and stared….another moose encounter in the early am…..THAT’S MOOSE TIME, for sure folks….early in the morning will do it every time….
