The kayak is QUIET…..It’s easy to get onto your vehicle, into the water, and then……so simple to use once you put the paddle in the water. To me, the kayak gives you freedom on your wildlife photo quest and gets some of the important factors under control quickly.
It is QUIET….have you ever tried walking around the woods in quiet mode trying not to snap any twigs underfoot….You need to be looking ahead for animal movement, not watching the ground underneath.
Notice in the photo here the large open cockpit on this kayak. I use two different boats, THE OTTER @ 9ft……and THE LOON @ 11ft……..This is the LOON shown here, a wonderful boat that tracks well and yet is easy to navigate in shallow water.
#1 priority to get out of the way is getting your gear safe….As I have mentioned before, DO NOT buy a “dry bag”. Time and time again, your camera will be in the bag when you need it rather than right there to grab in an instant. Get the biggest beach towel you can find…fold it in half so it hangs the long way….drape in the bottom of your kayak…..cushion your gear on it…….and fold over the beach towel to cover it up when paddling..
