Thank goodness…It’s the last day of February………..I am ready for some kayaking for sure and the wildlife will soon be out with renewed vigor after a long winter.
If you shoot in a kayak now and you are hand-holding your gear…..why not give this a try….MONOPOD….
These are inexpensive and worth their weight in gold. I use a Bogen 3249B model and i simply screw on a clamp made by Wimberley or RRS to the pod….it threads right on to the pod’s mounting bolt……on your lens goes the lens plate which slides into the jaws of your clamp….This set-up is quick, secure, and works so well to be ready for action in an instant… It helps if your lens had a rotating collar so you can switch from horizontal to vertical in a flash.
Please note….I said 3249B….the “B” is for black, in my opinion quite important. When you are out there in the angled early morning or late day light….a silver monopod will produce glare and you’ll stick out like a sore thumb to the animals. Same thing goes for your paddle.
This is MooseMan’s tip of the week….I am totally available by email for any questions on where, how, and why to get the gear….more than glad to help
