A good Monday to you all. There will be many upcoming posts on camera gear here but THIS WEEK’S tip really deserves some thought as you try to decide where to put your funds on new camera gear.
Consider this….As the newer model dslr’s come out with higher and higher effective MP’s, it is important to realize how a lens performs on various camera bodies…let’s do a quick comparison concerning how many megapixels we really need…..the main point of this post is ….
keep in mind that a higher MP camera certainly will show some more detail that we all seem to crave….BUT….and it’s a BIG but….it will also show the flaws of any given lens JUST AS MUCH…….. for instance, the lower end 18-105mm kit lens that comes with many of the new Nikon D7000′s….that lens performs much better on the D300 than on the D7000, simply because the higher MP D7000 brings out the inabilities of the lens more than a lower MP body does….
I guess my point is this. It is important to have a good camera body with the features you use and need the most and perhaps Megapixels of 10 to 12………AFTER THAT ………put your hard earned money into lens instead…….In future posts we could discuss this more….but I can not stress enough how important lens quality is over camera Megapixel total
the photo here shows D300 with 300mm F2.8 AF-S on bogen 3249b monopod using RRS clamps and plates…..another option here would be the FABULOUS 300mm F4 AF-S……..outstanding image quality for a fraction of $$$$$
stay tuned for more fun posts……I encourage any comments or questions.
