I did a September trip this year and WOW………..it was nothing short of incredible. i located a couple different bulls in full rutt…one guy was just cleaning his rack when i found him…..he was all fresh blood on his rack when i looked at him thru binos…..then i watched him rake the bushes and start polishing his rack……….EXCITING STUFF….what a great time of  year to be in the woods….here is a look at one of those bulls.

We have turned the calendar to september and with that comes a 3 day show in beautiful Alton Bay, NH……….show starts at 10am on saturday. yes indeed……Come join the fun this weekend up in colebrook NH right in the heart of MOOSE country……….I’ll have many NEW images from this year’s adventures from the wilderness….In case you’re new to the site and blog…..this year MooseMan broke a long standing record of his….over 25 yrs standing….back in the 80’s I had 11 moose in front of me in one spot…..this year, one nite at 6:30 pm in a favorite bog, I HAD 12 MOOSE FEEDING IN FRONT OF ME…..swing by my booth and check it out……..i am in Colebrook on friday and Canaan VT on saturday…

I thought I’d have a little contest for anyone viewing the website.One of my favorites…BIG BOY the bull appears several times on the MooseMna website….HERE IS THE CONTEST…..if anyone can study the moose photo section and find ALL the images of BIG BOY …..he or she will win a signed print of Big Boy FREE……….here’s the rules, just search the moose photo section and find ALL of his shots…then email me and tell me how many there are and what their item  numbers are (the item number comes up when you click on the image)…….what’s cool is I have already told you three of the answers….JUST GO TO THE POST BEFORE THIS ONE ……….there’s three links showing him in three different shots….to keep the contest simple….you only need to find images of him specifically in the MOOSE PHOTOS section…good luck, give me a shout with any questions or better yet….YOUR ENTRIES….

THE STORY OF “BIG BOY”..what a moose, I first found Big Boy back in 2003 and at the time he was a young and very  skinny bull that had  nearly died from winter weight loss….i didn’t think much of it at the time other than noting it in my journal as usual…the next year in 2004 I  found him again not 50 feet from where he was the year before…It was at this point that i noticed the notch in his right ear, ..and i thought, wow, this will help me identify him from here on ….and sure enough….i found him only briefly in 2005, but  in 2006 ,I  had a long encounter with him from 5am to arouond 7:30, he was magnificant and now 6 years old….the notch in his ear was stil there and has become his “birthmark” so to speak………I  found him again in 2007 and 2008….and now the story continues with this sighting this year ……in 2009………….he is now 9 years old and is a huge bull and most likely dominant in his area….this year’s rack is the biggest he has had in all his years….It is not often that one gets to see the same moose twice in the wilderness, but I have been fortunate to locate  Big Boy seven years in a row now…He has become a huge bull and is king of his area….

I am doing a last minute show in Ogunquit Maine on thursday august 20….10amto 6pm….if you’re over that way…….stop by. I will be on Beach Street with a full set-up and my tent………AND THEN, DON’T FORGET NEXT WEEKEND..THE MOOSE FESTIVAL UP IN COLEBROOK
